Uma Krishnaswami was born in India and has been writing for children since the last century. Her most recent titles are Threads of Peace: How Mohandas Gandhi and Martin Luther King Jr. Changed the World (middle grade nonfiction) and Two at the Top: A Shared Dream of Everest (a picture book, illustrated by Christopher Corr, about the first ascent of the world’s highest mountain by Sherpa Tenzing Norgay and New Zealand mountaineer Edmund Hillary). Uma has written over twenty-five books and plans to write many more. She writes picture books, poems, chapter books, early readers, short stories, nonfiction, and novels. Uma also teaches writing to grownups who want to write for young readers. She lives in British Columbia, Canada, where she writes, walks, and gardens. She also knits, because knitting helps her to revise her stories.
